The Society of St. Gregory the Great is a organization of Catholic laity committed to bringing the Gregorian Mass to Johnson County, Kansas.
This is a Group established for those whose souls are fed through the Mass of all Ages - The Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite.
In July 2007, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI issued Sommorum Pontificum, a letter that de-restricted the pre-Vatican II Mass for today's Catholics. In praise of Summorum Pontificum, we support the Tridentine Latin Mass by training, teaching, helping and praying.
Our goals are to:
Work as a lay movement within the Church for restoration of the liturgy and tradition.
Ensure that the Mass of Blessed John XXIII is maintained as one of the forms of Eucharistic celebration which are recognized and honored in universal liturgical life.
Obtain freedom to use other Roman liturgical books from "previous liturgical and disciplinary forms of the Latin tradition" (cf. Ecclesia Dei, n. 5).
Serve the Church and help all Christians to understand and participate in the Catholic liturgy.
